Description

Authentic Greek Salad is a vibrant and refreshing dish with crisp vegetables, creamy feta, briny Kalamata olives, and a zesty olive oil dressing. Perfect as a light meal or a side dish, this salad captures the essence of Mediterranean cuisine, delivering bold flavors and healthy ingredients in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Kalamata olives, pitted
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 12 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 block (200g) feta cheese, cut into large cubes or left whole
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, cucumber slices, red onion, and green bell pepper (if using). Add the Kalamata olives.
  • Drizzle olive oil and red wine vinegar over the vegetables. Sprinkle with dried oregano, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Gently toss the ingredients to coat the vegetables in the dressing.
  • Place the feta cheese on top of the salad. Either crumble it over the salad or leave it in large blocks for a traditional presentation.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a protein boost, add grilled chicken, lamb, or shrimp.
  • For a vegetarian version, add chickpeas or beans for a heartier salad.
  • Kalamata olives are traditional, but you can use green olives or a mix for variety.
