Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
For the Dough:
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For Serving (optional):
- Salsa
- Sour cream
- Guacamole
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in the diced onion and shredded cheeses. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to form a rectangle, about 12×8 inches.
- Spread the beef and cheese mixture evenly over half of the dough.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a pocket and press the edges to seal tightly.
- Cut the filled dough into strips about 1-inch wide.
- Brush each taco stick with olive oil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole for dipping.
Notes
- For extra spice, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the beef mixture before baking.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version of these taco sticks.
- For a different flavor, use a Mexican cheese blend instead of cheddar and mozzarella.
