Cheesy Taco Sticks are a fun and tasty twist on traditional tacos, combining seasoned ground beef, gooey melted cheese, and crispy dough for a delicious handheld treat. Perfect for game day snacks, appetizers, or casual dinners, these cheesy taco-filled breadsticks are a hit with the whole family. Dip them in salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for an irresistible snack that’s sure to please everyone.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

For the Dough:

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Serving (optional):

  • Salsa
  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  4. Stir in the diced onion and shredded cheeses. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to form a rectangle, about 12×8 inches.
  6. Spread the beef and cheese mixture evenly over half of the dough.
  7. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a pocket and press the edges to seal tightly.
  8. Cut the filled dough into strips about 1-inch wide.
  9. Brush each taco stick with olive oil and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the beef mixture before baking.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version of these taco sticks.
  • For a different flavor, use a Mexican cheese blend instead of cheddar and mozzarella.
