Description

Chicken Spaghetti Lo Mein is a fusion dish that combines the delicious flavors of Italian spaghetti and Chinese Lo Mein. With tender chicken, colorful vegetables, and a savory sauce, this dish is perfect for a quick weeknight meal. It’s customizable and packed with umami, making it a satisfying option for busy evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken slices and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the onion, bell pepper, and snap peas. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Return the chicken to the pan, then add the cooked spaghetti and sauce mixture. Toss everything together until the noodles and chicken are evenly coated.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, swap the chicken for tofu or additional vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, or baby corn.
  • To add spice, increase the red pepper flakes or include a dash of sriracha.
  • Try using different noodles like egg noodles or udon for a twist on the classic Lo Mein.
