Air-fried for a light crisp, they’re the perfect guilt-free snack that’s both satisfying and delicious. Ideal for kids and adults alike, these banana chips are coated in a warm cinnamon-sugar blend, offering a delightful crunch without the need for excess oil.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas (not overly ripe)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener of your choice)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
- Cooking spray or a small amount of oil (optional, for extra crispness)
Instructions
- Prep the Bananas: Peel and slice the bananas into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick). If you’re concerned about browning, lightly coat the slices with lemon juice.
- Season the Chips: In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar. Toss the banana slices in this mixture until evenly coated.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Arrange the Banana Slices: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush with oil for extra crispness. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding.
- Air Fry the Chips: Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes. Flip the chips halfway through for even crispness. Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes to avoid burning.
- Cool and Serve: Once golden and crispy, remove from the air fryer and allow to cool. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
Notes
- For a sweet-and-salty twist, sprinkle sea salt on the chips after air frying.
- You can experiment with different spices like nutmeg, cardamom, or cocoa powder.
- Drizzle melted dark chocolate over the cooled chips for a decadent treat.
- To add a tropical flair, sprinkle shredded coconut before air frying.
