Description

This Crispy Cheddar Chicken recipe delivers tender chicken breasts coated with a crunchy, cheesy crust made from Ritz crackers, cheddar cheese, and spices. Perfect for a comforting dinner, this easy-to-make dish will please the entire family. Ready in under an hour, it’s ideal for busy weeknights or a family gathering.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/2 cup sour cream

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 1/2 cups crushed Ritz crackers

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup butter, melted

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with nonstick spray.

  • Prepare Coating: In a shallow bowl, mix crushed Ritz crackers with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Coat Chicken: Spread sour cream over each chicken breast, covering all sides. Coat the chicken in the cracker mixture, pressing it in well.

  • Arrange in Baking Dish: Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over the top.

  • Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the coating is golden brown.

  • Add Cheese: During the last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken.

  • Serve: Let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Gluten-Free Option: Swap out Ritz crackers for gluten-free crackers to accommodate dietary needs.

  • Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the chicken with its coating up to 8 hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
