Description

These crispy oven-baked sweet potato fries are a healthier, guilt-free alternative to deep frying. Perfectly seasoned and baked to golden perfection, they’re a delicious, crunchy side dish or snack packed with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. With just 35 minutes of prep and cooking time, you can enjoy crispy fries without the extra oil!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked paprika for added flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for extra crispiness)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a baking sheet inside to heat up.
  • Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes (optional) and cut them into uniform 1/4-inch thick fries.
  • Soak the Fries: Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Season the Fries: Toss the fries in olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. If using cornstarch, sprinkle it in now and toss to coat.
  • Bake the Fries: Remove the hot baking sheet from the oven. Spread the fries in a single layer and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  • Serve: Let the fries cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, don’t skip the soaking step and use cornstarch.
  • Experiment with different spices like cumin, chili powder, or cinnamon for unique flavor variations.
  • Sweet potatoes can be peeled, but leaving the skin on adds extra fiber and texture.
