Description

This Delicious Ground Beef Stroganoff is an easy and hearty twist on the classic beef stroganoff, made with flavorful ground beef and a creamy mushroom sauce. Served over egg noodles, this rich and comforting dish is perfect for a weeknight meal. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s a filling and satisfying dinner that everyone will love!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz (225g) egg noodles (or pasta of choice)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles: Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the ground beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Brown for 6-7 minutes, then remove excess fat.
  3. Add onion and garlic: Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens and the garlic becomes fragrant.
  4. Cook the mushrooms: Add sliced mushrooms and cook for another 3-4 minutes until tender and browned.
  5. Make the sauce: Sprinkle flour over the beef and vegetable mixture, stir to coat, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add beef broth, stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Finish the sauce: Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  7. Combine with noodles: Add cooked egg noodles to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce.
  8. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add extra veggies: Peas, carrots, or spinach work great in this dish.
  • Make it lighter: Substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt or use low-fat sour cream for a healthier version.
  • Add spice: Red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper can be added for a little heat.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken: For a leaner protein, swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
