Description

Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a fun, no-bake dessert perfect for spring celebrations like Easter. With layers of creamy vanilla pudding, crumbled cookies, and colorful candy eggs, it’s a festive treat that is easy to make and sure to impress. This dessert is a playful twist on the classic dirt cake, making it an ideal choice for any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreos (crushed, or use chocolate sandwich cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 8 oz whipped topping (Cool Whip)
  • 4 tbsp butter (melted)
  • Easter candy eggs (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the cookie crust: In a food processor or plastic bag, crush the Oreos until they become fine crumbs. Mix the crushed cookies with the melted butter and press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch casserole dish to form an even crust. Set aside.

  • Make the pudding mixture: In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. In another bowl, whisk the milk and instant vanilla pudding mix for about 2 minutes until it thickens. Fold the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture, blending well.

  • Assemble the casserole: Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the prepared cookie crust in the casserole dish. Use a spatula to smooth out the top.

  • Add the whipped topping: Spread a layer of whipped topping (Cool Whip) over the pudding mixture, covering it completely.

  • Garnish and chill: Top with extra crushed Oreos to create a “dirt” effect. Place colorful Easter candy eggs on top for decoration.

  • Chill before serving: Refrigerate the casserole for at least 3 hours to allow it to set. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • You can add fresh fruit like strawberries or raspberries for a fruity twist.
  • Try using different cookies, like Golden Oreos or graham crackers, for the crust.
  • For added texture, sprinkle crushed nuts (pecans or walnuts) on top.
  • If you want a richer chocolate flavor, consider adding a layer of chocolate pudding between the vanilla layers.
