Description

This Easy Cracker Toffee Cookie, also known as “Christmas Crack,” is a sweet, salty, and crunchy treat that’s perfect for the holidays. Made with simple ingredients like saltine crackers, toffee, and chocolate, it’s an easy and quick dessert to whip up in no time. Ideal for gift-giving or holiday parties, this simple toffee cookie is a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Saltine crackers (or gluten-free crackers)

Unsalted butter

Light brown sugar

Semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk/dark chocolate)

Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, crushed candy canes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a 15” x 10” x 1” cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and let it cook for 2–3 minutes, or until it reaches a temperature of 270°F–290°F on a candy thermometer.

  • Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove it from the oven.

  • Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee and allow them to melt for a few minutes. Spread the chocolate evenly over the toffee layer.

  • Optional: Add your choice of toppings like chopped nuts, sprinkles, or crushed candy canes.

  • Let the toffee cool for 15 minutes before breaking it into pieces.

  • Store at room temperature or refrigerate for a longer shelf life.

  • Chocolate Variations: Try dark, milk, or dairy-free chocolate chips for different flavor profiles.
