1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Sauce:
2 tbsp unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1/2 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
For Garnish:
Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Season the Shrimp: Toss the shrimp with paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Sear the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in chicken broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Add Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream, add Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Combine & Serve: Return the shrimp to the skillet and coat them in the creamy sauce. Simmer for another 2 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish & Enjoy: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve over pasta, rice, or with garlic bread.
Notes
- Add more red pepper flakes or fresh chopped chilies for extra heat.
- You can use scallops, lobster, or a seafood blend as an alternative to shrimp.
- For a dairy-free version, use coconut milk or a dairy-free cream, and replace butter with olive oil.
