Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or pork or turkey)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into 16 small meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- While the meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Slice the sub rolls lengthwise but not all the way through, leaving a hinge. Brush the inside with olive oil and toast in the oven for 3-4 minutes.
- Place 4 meatballs in each roll, spoon marinara sauce over them, and top with mozzarella.
- Return the subs to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
