Description

This Italian Sausage Pasta is a quick and flavorful 30-minute meal, featuring savory Italian sausage, fresh spinach, and mushrooms in a rich tomato sauce. Tossed with bow-tie pasta, it’s the perfect weeknight dinner that’s both hearty and satisfying.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz bow-tie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 oz crimini mushrooms, sliced
  • 15 oz mild Italian sausage, crumbled
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 13 oz tomato pasta sauce or marinara
  • 6 oz fresh spinach
  • Salt and coarsely ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
    • Drain and set aside.
  • Sauté the Mushrooms:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3-5 minutes until tender.
    • Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the Chicken :
    • In the same skillet, cook crumbled Italian sausage over medium heat until browned (about 5 minutes).
    • Drain excess fat.
  • Add Aromatics & Seasoning:
    • Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
    • Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Combine Sauce & Spinach:
    • Add tomato pasta sauce and fresh spinach.
    • Stir and bring to a gentle boil, cooking for 5 minutes until spinach wilts.
  • Mix Everything Together:
    • Return mushrooms to the skillet.
    • Add drained pasta and toss until evenly coated.
  • Serve & Enjoy:
    • Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
    • Serve hot, garnished with extra red pepper flakes if desired.
