Pizza Burgers combine the juicy goodness of a classic burger with all the cheesy, saucy flavors of pizza. These Italian-inspired burgers are seasoned with garlic, Italian herbs, and marinara, then topped with melty mozzarella and pepperoni for the ultimate comfort food mashup. Perfect for a quick and easy dinner the whole family will love!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or 4 slices)
  • 812 pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (for garnish)
  • Fresh basil or oregano (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties – In a bowl, mix ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
  2. Cook the Burgers:
    • Grill – Cook over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side.
    • Pan-Fry – Cook in a skillet over medium heat for about 4 minutes per side.
    • Bake – Place on a baking sheet at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes.
  3. Melt the Cheese – In the last minute of cooking, place mozzarella cheese on each patty and cover until melted.
  4. Toast the Buns – Lightly butter the hamburger buns and toast them in a skillet or under a broiler until golden.
  5. Assemble the Burgers – Spread marinara sauce on the bottom bun, place the burger patty with melted cheese, and top with pepperoni slices (if using). Sprinkle with Parmesan and fresh basil.
  6. Serve & Enjoy – Close the burger with the top bun and serve hot!

Notes

  • Spicy Option – Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños.
  • Supreme Style – Top with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers.
  • BBQ Pizza Burger – Swap marinara for BBQ sauce and add crispy bacon.
  • Hawaiian Twist – Add ham and pineapple slices.
  • Vegetarian Option – Use a plant-based burger patty and dairy-free cheese.
  • Storage – Refrigerate leftover patties in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating – Warm in a skillet over low heat or microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Freezing – Freeze uncooked patties for up to 3 months; thaw before cooking.
