Description

Ingredients

1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)
12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your favorite pasta shape)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)


Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the Sausage: While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook for 6-8 minutes or until browned and fully cooked. Remove any excess fat from the skillet.

3️⃣ Sauté the Onion and Garlic: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the sausage and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, until fragrant.

4️⃣ Make the Creamy Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream, chicken broth, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 3-5 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

5️⃣ Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sausage sauce. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and let it melt into the sauce for extra richness.

6️⃣ Serve: Serve the savory sausage and creamy pasta in bowls, garnished with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes (if using) for some heat. Enjoy hot!
