This Asian-inspired recipe is quick and easy, making it perfect for busy weeknights or meal prep. With a flavorful combination of soy sauce, hoisin, and honey, each bite of these sticky noodles is packed with irresistible flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 8 oz egg noodles (or your favorite noodles)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water.
- While the noodles cook, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the cooked noodles. Pour the sauce over the beef and noodles, tossing everything together until well-coated and the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Add the reserved pasta water if needed to help coat the noodles.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, replace beef with tofu or tempeh. Pan-fry the tofu before adding to the noodles.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or bok choy for added crunch and color.
- For extra spice, increase red pepper flakes or drizzle sriracha sauce over the dish.
- Swap egg noodles for rice noodles, soba noodles, or zucchini noodles for different textures.
