Description

The Swiss Mushroom Melt Delight is the ultimate comfort sandwich with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and crispy golden-brown bread. Perfect for lunch, a snack, or a savory treat, this indulgent melt brings together earthy mushrooms, creamy cheese, and crispy bread for a deliciously satisfying bite. Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or whole wheat)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp of butter over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden brown.
  • Stir in garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper, and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Heat a separate skillet or griddle over medium heat, adding a small amount of butter.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Spread mayonnaise (optional) on the unbuttered side of two slices, and top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Evenly distribute sautéed mushrooms on top of the cheese and add the remaining slices of Swiss cheese.
  • Place the remaining slices of bread on top, with buttered sides facing out.
  • Grill the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra richness, use mayonnaise, or try adding grilled chicken, turkey, or additional veggies like spinach or caramelized onions.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese and butter substitutes.
