Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (preferably lean)
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1/4 cup water (to dissolve cornstarch)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
- Cooked rice (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Steam or Blanch the Broccoli: While the beef cooks, steam or blanch broccoli florets for about 3-4 minutes, until tender-crisp. If using frozen broccoli, follow package instructions.
- Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. For a thicker sauce, dissolve cornstarch in water and stir into the sauce mixture.
- Combine the Beef and Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the cooked beef and stir to coat evenly. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken and flavors to meld.
- Add the Broccoli: Add the cooked broccoli to the skillet, tossing to combine with the beef and sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Serve and Garnish: Serve the Teriyaki Ground Beef and Broccoli over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- Add More Veggies: Enhance the dish by adding bell peppers, carrots, snap peas, or mushrooms.
- Spicy Option: For extra heat, add red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
- Low-Carb Option: Serve this dish with cauliflower rice instead of regular rice for a keto-friendly alternative.
- Different Proteins: Swap ground beef for ground chicken, turkey, pork, or tofu for variety.
